The Building Contractor Assessment Scheme (BCAS) has been specifically developed for smaller building contractors and trades to visibly demonstrate the attainment of the required standard of achievement in relation to the HM Government PAS 91 Procurement requirements. Accreditation through the scheme will enable smaller building contractors and trades to compete for larger projects and to stand out from their competitors within their existing sectors / markets. There are three accreditation levels currently available:

Full accreditation is for those organisations that wish to gain full accreditation, for works for Clients, Main Contractors and Domestic Clients. Successful applicants will be able to use the BCAS Accredited Logo within their communication and advertising materials.

Affiliated accreditation is for those contractors and trades that may already hold certain trade registrations but need to add to it for example NICEIC, FMB etc. for the kind of works they generally bid for or to take on additional roles for example Principal Contractor. For these applicants we will recognise part or all of the required elements where there is cross over. You will therefore only be assessed on any additional criteria.

This accreditation is for those contractors and traders whose main clients consist of homeowners. The assessment covers similar elements to the PAS 91 requirements but in addition covers the role of the Principal Designer & Principal Contractor in the domestic client context.
